Peter POTRUFF – Theft Of Vehicle, Hit And Run, Flight From Police

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, July 29, 2016 at approximately 3:47 a.m. Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm at a business located on Governors Road in Brant County.

At this location a suspect had forced entry through the front door of the business. On arrival to the alarm a vehicle was attempting to leave the parking lot. The male driver abandoned the vehicle fleeing into a neighbouring corn field.

Brant OPP, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, Brantford City Police and OPP Canine attended and searched the area.

As a result of the search and investigation, 43-year-old Peter POTRUFF of Brantford was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following:

Theft of motor vehicle

Break and Enter a place commit indictable offence

Dangerous Operation of motor vehicle

Mischief – Interfere with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property – under $5,000

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident

The male is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
