(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Thursday, July 21, 2016 Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous complaints of thefts from vehicles which had occurred within the Town of Tillsonburg.
On that date, while on general patrol, OPP members observed a male known to police as having outstanding warrants for his arrest. The male made attempts to evade police, but OPP were able to locate and arrest the male. Located with the male were items that had been reported stolen from the vehicles in Tillsonburg.
As a result of the investigation, the Oxford County OPP Street Crimes Unit charged 19-year-old Dustin HELMER-TAYLOR of Tillsonburg under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following:
Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle (8 counts)
Use Stolen Credit Card (2 counts)
Disguise With Intent
Break, Enter and Commit Indictable Offence
Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)
Fail to Comply With Probation Order
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (2 counts)
Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
The male is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
