(SUDBURY, ON)- On October 30, 2016, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic control at a collision scene on Highway 69, in the township of Burwash.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male driver who stopped at the roadblock.
Officers detected the odor of marihuana emanating from interior of the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, police located and seized a quantity of drugs inside the passenger car.
The driver, Habib Omar KAKRA-KOUAME, 30 years of age, from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with the following:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Ecstasy, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code – 3 counts
Driving while under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Sudbury, to answer to his charges.
