Christopher GELDART – Drunk Driving, Drive While Suspended

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On October 30, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle travelling north on Hunt Road, and turn west onto Trafalgar Road. The rear licence plate on the white Cadillac was obscured with mud.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined that the 27-year-old male driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. He was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, Christopher GELDART, from Thames Centre, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, and driving while disqualified – provincial suspension, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA section 41/42, obstruct plate, and use plate not authorized for vehicle X2.

He was further charged with operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), and driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

The accused is scheduled to answer the charges before the London courts on November 15, 2016.
