Break And Enters Solved – CHAMBERS Arrested

(Tudor-Cashel, ON) – Between December 23, 2016 and December 27, 2016 seasonal properties including sheds and garages were broken into on Moores Lane and South Steenburg Lake Road in Tudor –Cashel Township. In addition entry was forced to a cottage on Moores Lane, Tudor-Cashel Twp and a garage on Halcomb Lane (Robinson Lake) in Limerick Township.

Members of Quinte West O.P.P, Bancroft O.P.P and Central Hastings O.P.P conducted a joint investigation which included search warrants being conducted at a residence on Marmora Street in Trenton, ON where stolen property was recovered.

As a result, 23 year old Jordan CHAMBERS of Trenton, ON was charged with:

One count of Break and Enter a Dwelling House

Five counts of Break and Enter a Place

Three counts of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing at Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville today.

Central Hastings O.P.P and Bancroft O.P.P are asking cottage owners in that area to check their property and report any incidents to police by contacting 1-888-310-1122.

In addition if anyone has recently purchased property through an online classified advertising service that they suspect may be stolen or involved in this investigation they are encouraged to call Central Hastings O.P.P at 613-473-4234 or 1-888-310-1122. Buyers can ask a seller to let them see and record the item’s serial number. With the serial number, the buyer can call police and ask to have the serial number checked to see if the item has been reported stolen. The public can also check the serial number themselves on the internet by visiting the Canadian Police Information Center’s’ website.

Break-ins have a negative impact on everyone involved. The Ontario Provincial Police would like to help you protect your property, your home and yourself against crime. Cottages and seasonal homes are most vulnerable to property crimes during fall, winter and spring when they are not being used by property owners.

Remove valuables from property —ie tools, electronics, personal items.

Take photos and record serial numbers of anything of value left behind.

Engrave your valuables with an identifying number in a highly visible spot

Arrange for a permanent resident or keyholder to check your property; leave your contact information with that person.

Consider using motion sensor lights to illuminate the exterior of your residence/cottage.

Consider an alarm system.

Avoid posting information on social media advising of when you will be away or any vacation plans.
