Ashley Sheward – Impaired Driving

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) -On July 19, 2018 just before 8:30 p.m. the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with emergency personnel responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Union Road north of Lakeshore Road in Cramahe Township.

The female driver of the silver Dodge passenger van was taken to a local area hospital; she was later transported to a hospital in Kingston, Ontario to be treated for an injury she sustained to her leg. The female passenger was transported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures but was later released.

As a result of the investigation 30 year old Ashley Sheward of Brighton, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences;

Care and Control of a vehicle while impaired

Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample

Drive motor vehicle – no licence

Use plate not authorized by for vehicle

Having care and control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

Use validation not furnished for vehicle

Operate motor vehicle without insurance

She was released, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on September 5, 2018.

Road safety is a shared responsibility and the OPP would like to remind motorists that if they are going to drink they should have a plan in place for a safe ride home. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
