(ATIKOKAN , ON) – On August 3, 2018, at approximately 3:09 PM, members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about an impaired driver on Flanders Road. An officer patrolled the area, and conducted a vehicle stop. He had a conversation with the driver which led him to believe that she had been consuming alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Atikokan detachment for further tests.
Crystal OTTERTAIL, 39 years of age, of Lac La Croix First Nation Territory has been charged with the following offences:
Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
Driving with more than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code,
Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on August 7, 2018.
