(KAPUSKASING, ON) – On November 27, 2016, at approximately 7:45 a.m., members of the Kapuskasing Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Concession Road 14 and 15 in the Village of Val Rita, Ontario.
Police investigation revealed that the male driver had stolen a brown pickup truck from a garage in Kapuskasing and later crashed.
Kevin LANTEIGNE, 29, of Kapuskasing, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
Theft Over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC
Mischief Over $5000 contrary to section 430(3) CC
Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) CC
Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC
Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) CC
Fail to Remain contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA)
Two Counts of Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) HTA
The accused is still in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 9, 2017.
