Helen Raftery – Drunk Driving

(Bluewater, ON) On July 25, 2009 at approximately 12:30 am Huron OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Bluewater Hwy south of Bayfield for failing to stop for a stop sign and then for speeding. Upon speaking to the female driver, the officer detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. A demand was made for the driver to provide a roadside sample of her breath. The driver complied but failed. She was subsequently arrested and taken to the Huron Detachment where she provided two more samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. The results confirmed that the driver was significantly above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol when driving.

As a result, Helen Raftery (46) of London was charged with one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She will answer to her charge in Goderich Court on October 19, 2009.
