Graffiti Artists Decorates Town

(KINCARDINE, ON) – The South Bruce OPP has received 4 reports of graffiti applied in the town of Kincardine during the overnight hours of January 21st/January 22nd, 2012. Inappropriate phrases and images were applied to an area of sidewalk along Russell Street and to the rear walls of 3 Queen Street businesses: Dar-Lyn pools and spas, 9 Waves and Bruce Telecom.

Graffiti negatively impacts a community’s beautification. The removal or repair costs can be expensive, but it must be removed. Graffiti left unchallenged suggests a community that is apathetic about its appearance and most often leads to more graffiti being applied. When a person applies graffiti, they are committing a criminal code offence called Mischief, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the South Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
