Fatal Collision Closes HWY

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On Friday, November 4, 2016, at approximately 6:45 a.m. the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision westbound Highway 401 east of Foldens Line.

The collision occurred between two motor vehicles both travelling westbound on Highway 401. As a result of that collision, further collisions occurred on eastbound Highway 401, when an occupant from the westbound collision was struck on the eastbound side of Highway 401.

As a result of injuries, the male occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

All others were transported by Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with minor injuries.

OPP, EMS and South-west Oxford township fire department attended and assisted with the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Highway 401 eastbound and westbound was closed for approximately 5 hours.

The collision remains under investigation.

Further information will be released as it becomes available and next of kin are notified.

Police are seeking assistance from the public. Anyone that was travelling westbound on Highway 401 during that time frame and witnessed the collision is asked to please contact Oxford County OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.
