(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 17, 2016 at approximately 11:23 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a 2009 Hyundai that struck a hydro pole at McTavish Street and Belsyde Avenue, Fergus. The driver was located at a home on McTavish Street and Officers believed he had consumed alcohol. An arrest was made and he was brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for testing.
29-year-old Craig REID of Elora has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 7, 2016. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
