Collision Involving School Bus – Several Sent To Hospital

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate a two vehicle, intersection related collision on Dereham Line and Mount Elgin Road in South-West Oxford Township on Wednesday November 30, 2016.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. police were called to the collision just west of Mount Elgin. A small yellow school bus (Langs Bus Lines) was travelling southbound on Dereham Line, and stopped at the intersection of Mount Elgin Road. The bus then proceeded through the intersection and struck a SUV which was travelling eastbound on Mount Elgin Road.

At the time of the collision there was one eight-year-old child on the bus who was not injured. The male bus driver was transported to area hospital with minor injuries where he was treated and released. The adult female driver of the SUV, and an adult female passenger were taken to area hospital for minor injuries where they were treated and released. A one-year-old passenger in the SUV was not injured in the collision.

The South-West Oxford Township Fire Department and Oxford EMS attended the scene to provide assistance.

The collision remains under investigation and charges are pending.
