Brantford Crime Briefs – 17May2017

Type: Break and Enter

Incident: 17- 17432

Location: Mohawk Street (100 block)

Incident: Sometime between Friday May 12 and Monday May 15, 2017 unknown person(s) broke into a business on Mohawk Street. No items were reported stolen at the time of the report. Suspect(s) committed mischief inside the building by setting off fire extinguishers.

Type: Theft from Motor Vehicle

Incident: 17- 17457

Location: Rowanwood Avenue

Incident: On May 15, 2017 it was reported that sometime Saturday evening a vehicle was entered on Rowanwood Avenue. Tools were reported stolen.

Type: Theft from Motor Vehicle

Incident: 17- 17592

Location: Helen Avenue

Incident: On May 16, 2017 it was reported that sometime overnight two vehicles were entered while parked in the underground parking garage on Helen Avenue. Both vehicles had a window smashed out of their vehicles and both reported stolen purses.

Type: Fraud

Incident: 17- 17607

Location: Stratford Tr

Incident: On May 16, 2017 a Brantford woman reported a fraud regarding cookie dough sales. The woman advised that last week an unknown woman with two children came to her door fundraising for Landsdowne Children’s Centre. The victim placed an order for cookie dough and paid in advance for the order. The victim later followed up with the school and learned that the school was not currently fundraising and there was no such event ongoing. The total amount of fraud was $19.00.

The suspect is described as a white female in her 30’s having light brown shoulder length hair. Accompanying the suspect was a 6 to 7 year old girl and a boy aged 2 to 3 years of age sitting in a stroller.

Type: Mischief

Incident: 17- 17701

Location: Kent Road

Incident: On May 16, 2017 at 11:40 p.m. a citizen called 911 to report a disturbance on Kent Road. The citizen heard some sort of an explosion sound and observed smoke pouring from a school bus parked on a lot on Kent Road.

A four door SUV style vehicle was observed on the lot and seen fleeing the area after the explosion. Two buses were damaged. A window was smashed out, a tire was flattened and a fire extinguisher was set off inside one of the buses.
