Bad Drug Alert – Three Sent To Hospital In Owen Sound

The Owen Sound Police Service is warning the public about potentially deadly illegal drugs that may be in the city.

Owen Sound Police Service Detective Sergeant Jeff Fluney stated, “Over the last twelve hours, we have investigated two separate incidents of suspected drug overdose. We believe the drug may be heroin or cocaine or a drug held out to be those drugs.”

In both incidents, the first at approximately 12:30 this morning on the city’s west side and the second approximately nine hours later on the city’s east side, the police were called to assist paramedics who were already at the scenes. All three people, a male from the first location and a male and female from the second location, were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

“While both drugs [heroin and cocaine] are already illegal to possess and dangerous to ingest, we are urging anyone who may be users of these types of drugs or come into possession of them, for your own safety please do not use them,” said Fluney.

The Owen Sound Police are continuing their investigation into both incidents; trying to positively identify the substances they believe were ingested and to see if there is any possible connection of the substances to each other.
