79 Year Old Faces Trafficking Charge

(COCHRANE, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) Drug Enforcement Unit has laid four drug related charges against a local area resident on November 3, 2013.

A comprehensive investigation led by the OPP OCEB, which was assisted by the Cochrane OPP, resulted in the incident to arrest search of a suspect white Oldsmobile motor vehicle and its occupants, which was travelling Eastbound on Highway 652 in Glackmeyer Township. During the search of the vehicle, OPP officers located 225 Methamphetamine pills and 6.5 grams of Cocaine, worth a street value of approximately $2900. $360 in Canadian currency was also seized from the vehicle during the search.

Based on the totality of the investigation, the male driver of the vehicle, 79 year old Ernest WHITING of Cochrane, Ontario was arrested and charged with two counts of Drug trafficking and two counts of Possession for the purpose of trafficking pursuant to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was held in police custody until his bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on November 4, 2013, and was later released on a Recognizance.
