27 Year Old Facing Numerous Charges

(HURON EAST, ON) – A traffic stop late last night left has resulted in a number of charges being laid against a Seaforth resident. Just before 10:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Monte Carlo travelling westbound on Huron Road near Centennial Drive in Seaforth. The officer had information to believe the vehicle was being operated with stolen licence plates so a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver was stopped without incident and was placed under arrest for possession of stolen licence plates. Further investigation revealed the attached stolen licence plates had homemade plastic licence plate covers that obstructed the plates. Additionally, it was determined the vehicle was uninsured.

As a result, 27-year-old Michael BERNARD was arrested and charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Operate a Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Insurance, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle and Obstruct Licence Plate. He has a court appearance scheduled for April 4, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
