44 Year Old From Bluewater Arrested – Name Released

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Dangerous Operation following a single vehicle collision into a water hydrant and a failed roadside test on November 28th, 2023. 

On November 28th at approximately 7:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers, along with members of the Bayfield Fire Department responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Charles Street near Chiniquy Street in the Municipality of Bluewater, Bayfield. The driver and three passengers were not injured in the collision. Damage to the hydrant caused flooding in a nearby residence.

Police spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest. 

The accused provided two suitable breath samples to the Intoxilyzer Technician at the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton, and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Jacqueline BOOK, 44 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus),

–      Dangerous Operation.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 8th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
