WRPS Incident Reports – August 2

OTTAWA STREET NORTH AT KEEWATIN AVE, KITCHENER ON CANADA (AREA: WC
On Thursday August 1, 2013, at approximately 8:15am, Waterloo Regional Police responded to the report of a robbery in the area of Ottawa Street North and Keewatin Avenue in the city of Kitchener.

From the subsequent investigation, police allege that this robbery was a targeted incident which occurred following the victim’s attempt to arrange a meeting using an on-line classified ads website to solicit the purchase of illicit drugs.
The adult male victim met with persons who then proceeded to rob him of his property and money. The victim sustained no injuries as a result of the incident.
Police do not have concerns for general public safety as a result of this incident.
The investigation is continuing in an attempt to identify the suspects and police are attempting to link suspicious activity in a nearby grocery store to the fleeing robbery suspects. The suspects are described as white males, approximately 30 years of age.
Police remind the community of the risks associated for anyone contemplating meeting with strangers to conduct illegal activities.

Incident # 13-178018 Type : Robbery
SOUTH ST, CAMBRIDGE
On August 1, 2013, Waterloo Regional Police at approximately 4:31pm, responded to an incident on South Street in the City of Cambridge.
A male and female had forced their way into the residence of a 53 year old male, stealing his money. No persons were injured and no weapons were observed.
The identity of the suspects is known to police and a warrant is being sought for their arrest. Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact South Division Detectives at 519-650-8500 ext. 2235 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Incident # 13-177617 Type : Traffic Enforcement
EAST AVE, KITCHENER
On August 1, 2013, a multi-jurisdictional Commercial Truck Safety blitz was conducted at the Kitchener Auditorium.
In attendance were the Waterloo Regional Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Finance, Toronto Police Service, Peel Police Service, York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police and Guelph Police Service.
A total of 127 commercial vehicles were inspected. Of these, 54 were taken out of service and 117 charges were laid.
