West Grey Police Press Releases

Between August 16th and August 27th the West Grey Police Service responded to 134 calls for service.

Assault

On Thursday, the 16th day of August 2018 at approximately 5:04pm the West Grey Police Service received report of an assault that had occurred the previous day at a Grey Road 9 residence. The victim reports to Police that she had been physically assaulted while trying to leave a residence leaving her with minor injuries. Police investigated the matter and on the 17th of August 2018, the accused attended the West Grey Police detachment where she was arrested for one count of assault. The accused was later released with conditions and given a September 26th court date where she will answer to the charge.

Mischief / Fail to Comply with Probation Order

On Sunday, August 26th, 2018 at approximately 01:17am police responded to a call for service on Garafraxa Street South regarding a family dispute. Police arrived on scene at approximately 01:19am and spoke to the complainant who reports that a family member had attended their residence and began to make a scene. When told to leave, the accused grabbed a glass off the table and smashed it on the ground. While leaving the accused then picked up the garden lanterns and threw them on the driveway causing them to break. The broken items are valued to have a value of approximately $60 dollars. Police learnt that the accused had previously entered into a probation order and did fail to comply with his condition to “keep the peace and be of good behavior.” Subsequent to the Police investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with one count of Mischief Under $5000 and one count of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. The accused was released on conditions and is set to appear at the Walkerton Courthouse on the 26th of September to answer to the charge.

Break and Enter

On the 16th day of August 2018 at approximately 7:26pm, Police were called to attend a Concession 12 residence were a homeowner had discovered that someone had broken into her home and stolen her brown purse which contained approximately $300.00 in Canadian currency. Police are continuing to investigate this matter and are reaching out to the public to review their home security cameras and to contact Police should any relevant footage or information be available. Mischief

On the 17th day of August, 2018, a homeowner called Police to report that his stone decorative stone Gargoyle had been stolen from in front of his home located on Mill Street in Neustadt. The Gargoyle is valued at approximately $200.00 and the homeowner believes that the theft occurred sometime overnight. Police are asking the publics assistance to identify suspects and to have the statue returned to its owner.
