On Saturday June 16, 2018 police were advised to attend a domestic assault. The investigation determined that the victim suffered minor injuries, the accused was charged with assault. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and OIC Undertaking, with a court date in the near future.

On Saturday, June 16, 2018 Police conducted a traffic stop within the Municipality the passenger was wanted by another Police Service and was placed under arrest. Through the investigation a number of different drugs were located on the accused. Subsequently, the accused was charged and held for a Bail Hearing on Possession for the purpose of trafficking (FENTANYL), Possession for the purpose of trafficking (METHAMPHETIMINE) Possession for the purpose of trafficking (HEROIN).
POLICE investigated 10 motor vehicle collisions with only minor injuries being reported. Several drivers were charged with Highway Traffic Act offences. A large number of the collisions were Car/Deer accidents. Drivers are reminded that pursuant to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act motor vehicle collisions resulting in injury or damage in excess of $2000 must be reported to the police forthwith and not hours or days later.
POLICE continue to respond to a large number of Mental Health related calls. In most cases reported POLICE were able to provide assistance without the individual being apprehended pursuant to the Mental Health Act
POLICE are investigating a break and enter into a shed located in a gravel pit in the Markdale area. During the overnight hours on June 19 thieves broke into a shed and stole a quantity of tools.
POLICE are investigating ongoing thefts from a Glenelg area property of gasoline. On June 21 in addition to fuel, thieves also stole a generator and an air compressor. POLICE would like to remind the public that fuel storage units should be secured with a good quality lock as the rising price of fuel makes them inviting targets of opportunity for the ever present members of the criminal underworld.
On June 22 POLICE on routine patrol arrested a wanted male in the village of Neustadt. The male initially lied to POLICE about his identity. Further investigation revealed that the male was wanted by the OPP on a number of warrants. The male was promptly arrested and transferred to the OPP
On June 23 an early morning trip to Tim Hortons in Hanover proved to be a costly mistake for a male from Normanby Tp. Alert staff at Tim Hortons contacted POLICE to report a male in the drive through that was showing obvious signs of impairment. The male was located, arrested by POLICE and later failed a breath test. The male was charged with impaired driving, care and control of a motor vehicle with over 80mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood and had his drivers licence suspended immediately for 90 days.
On June 23 West Grey Police were called to assist the Hanover Police Service regarding an out of control female whom had caused several accidents in Hanover and West Grey. The female ran her vehicle into a Hanover Police cruiser and was apprehended. The female faces a number of criminal charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The province wide Canada day holiday weekend aggressive driving campaign will kick off on June 29 running through to July 2. The public can expect to see an increased police presence on area roads and waterways. Speeding, drinking and driving while being the operator of an automobile, ATV or boat, aggressive driving and not wearing a seatbelt on area roads will likely bring you into contact with POLICE or Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry [MNRF] Conservation officers.
