West Grey Police Press Release 31Dec – 08Jan2018

Between the 31st of December 2017 and the 8th of January 2018, The West Grey Police Service responded to 103 calls for service.

Domestic Assault

On the 7th day of January 2018, West Grey Police received a call from a women in distress reporting that her husband had assaulted her in the town of Ayton. Police attended the residence and subsequent to the investigation, a male was arrested for two counts of Assault and was held for a bail hearing at the Walkerton Courthouse.

Mischief

In the early hours of January 8th 2018, Police were called to attend a residence were a landlord reported that his tenant had cut the residences electrical hydro cords, disconnecting all power to the house. Upon Police arrival, the suspect was still on scene and was arrested for one count of Mischief Over $5000. Emergency Hydro Crews were called out to reconnect the electricity as the temperatures were below zero degrees Celsius. The suspect was brought to the West Grey Police Station where he was processed and released by way of Promise to Appear.

Motor vehicle collisions

In the past eight days West Grey Police have responded to over twenty Motor Vehicle Collisions. Drivers are being asked to adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions. The Roadway Maintenance teams have been working hard to keep our roadways clean and drivers are reminded to only pass a snowplow when it is safe to do so.

Theft

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 2010 Black, 5X10 trailer vin #2AVULC1A9A1000719 which was stolen from the area of Baptist Church Road sometime between January 3rd and 6th 2018. At the time of the theft, the trailer did not have a license plate on it. Anyone with information is being asked to call the West Grey Police Service.

The administration office will be closed January 15, 2018 – January 19, 2018, re-opening at 8:30 a.m. January 22, 2018.
