Between the 26th and the 31st of January 2018, The West Grey Police Service responded to 75 calls for service.
Theft
Between the 25th and 26th day of January 2018, West Grey Police were dispatched to attend Markdale area where it was reported that ten wooden Antique Factory Carts had been stolen from a barn. Police are continuing to investigate this matter and ask that anyone with information call the West Grey Police Service at 519-371-6911.
Motor vehicle collisions
In the seven days the West Grey Police Service have responded to twelve Motor Vehicle Collisions several of which resulted in charges. Drivers are being reminded to adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions. Note that the Ministry of Transportation’s Ontario 511 and Traveler Information
Services website offer updated road conditions as it becomes available.
Theft
On the 25th day of January, Police were advised of a gas drive off from the Durham area. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle in question had been stolen the day prior from the Teeswater area. The vehicle is described as a Grey Dodge Ram with Ontario Plate # AP79020. Anyone with information is being asked to call West Grey Police or Crime Stoppers. Police are reminding the public to lock their vehicle doors and not leave the keys in their vehicles.
Special Olympics Award
On Saturday January 27th 2018, Cst. Cory Trainor attended the Special Olympics Provincial Meeting in Niagara Falls, Ontario. While at the event, Chair of the OACP Torch Run Executive committee, Chief Andre Fletcher of the South Simcoe Police Service and the director of the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run, Sergeant Mark McGugan of the London Police Service, presented the West Grey Police Service with an award for having the Second Highest Growth in Revenue Raised for Special Olympics Ontario in 2017. Cst. Trainor was proud to accept the award on behalf of all the members of the West Grey Police Service and all the members of the community who supported our Special Olympics events. A special thanks is given to all the Staff at St Peters St Paul’s School for hosting the event and to the West Grey Fire Department for your continuous partnership that makes our events possible. We look forward to seeing everyone on March 9th 2018 for our Second Annual Polar Plunge were we hope to surpass last year’s achievements and continue supporting the Special Olympics and Torch Run for years to come.
