Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charge

(HURON EAST, ON) On November 16, 2011 at 12:40 p.m. officers from Huron County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Turnberry Street, Huron East.

While speaking with a driver, an alert officer detected an odour of burnt marijuana coming from inside the stopped vehicle. The officer began to question the male driver about the odour. The driver then proceeded to hand over a Ziploc bag containing a small quantity of suspected marijuana.

Further investigation revealed he was a suspended driver. As a result Christopher BANK aged 51 of Huron East has been charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and one count of Driving while Suspended contrary to section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act. He will answer to his charges at the Ontario Court of Justice- Goderich on January 9, 2012. LP11325018
