(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, May 28, around 11:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service were called to a local business parking lot in Bradford for an unconscious, possibly deceased male. When the officer arrived, he located the male behind a tractor truck’s trailer unconscious but breathing. The officer was able to wake the male who was confused about where he was and where he had come from. While speaking to the male, the officer detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and a plastic bag clutched in his hand containing marihuana. The male was placed under arrest and taken to the station for further testing. A 47 year old man from Beaverton has been charged with 2 Counts of Possession Of A Controlled Substance and Intoxicated In A Public Place. He will appear in Bradford criminal court in July 2017.
Warn Range Suspension
(Bradford, ON) On Friday, May 26, 2017, just after 1:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling well under the speed limit on Holland Street West. While the officer continued to follow this vehicle, it quickly made lane changes without signalling then pulled into a local business’s parking lot hitting the curb. Police stopped the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, she noted an odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. A roadside screening device was conducted registering a CAUTION. The 65 year old male from Bradford driver’s licence was suspended for 3 days.
R.I.D.E.
(Bradford, ON) On Friday, May 26, 2017, South Simcoe Police Service was conducting R.I.D.E. near the intersections of Line 6 and Brownlee Drive in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury when an officer noticed a grey van approaching, slow down and turn quickly into a driveway. The officer attended the location of this vehicle and spoke to the driver noticing no signs of alcohol detected on his breath. The officer did note an expired validation tag from December 2013 on the rear licence plate of the van. The male driver openly admitted to having no licence or insurance. The officer continued his investigation to find that the driver was currently under a province wide driving suspension for unpaid fines since August 2003. As a result the 55 year old man from Richmond Hill was charged with and number of Highway Traffic Act violations including Driving While Under Suspension and Drive With No Insurance.
