Snow Squall Warning – 15CM Snow Possible Tonight – Zero Visibility Expected

Snow squall warning in effect for:

Goderich – Bluewater – Southern Huron County

Listowel – Milverton – Northern Perth County

Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County

Wingham – Blyth – Northern Huron County

Snow squalls are expected to begin late this afternoon or this evening as a cold front moves through and brisk west to northwest winds develop over Lake Huron. Near zero visibilities are expected in the vicinity of the cold front.

The snow squalls will intensify and may become localized tonight as the colder air arrives and the northwesterly winds continue. Latest indications suggest there is potential for a strong snowsquall bands with significant accumulation into Friday. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimeters are expected by Friday morning in the regions with additional amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres on Friday in the strongest snow squalls.

Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Road closures are possible. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
