Rookie Ball Opening Ceremony on Wednesday July 13 2016

Rookie League baseball provides approximately 70 children between the ages of eight and eleven years old with the opportunity to experience the game of baseball. While participating, they build on the spirit of teamwork and can also develop leadership skills. The league is made up of four teams that play a scheduled game and one practice each week for a period of six weeks throughout the summer. The teams are coached by LPS members, both sworn and civilian, that volunteer their time for this important community project.

On Wednesday, July 6th, 2016, the London Majors hosted the first Training Day at Labatt Park. The players and coaches met, talked about the season and worked on skills development with some London Majors players.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. the season opening ceremony and games are scheduled to take place at Vauxhall Park. London Majors players will be pitching and umpiring the games. Chief John Pare will be throwing the 1st pitch and Constable Sandasha Bough will be singing the National Anthem.

The season final is scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Labatt Park.

The Rookie League program is sponsored by a number of community partners including: Joe Kool’s, London Middlesex Housing Corporation, London Majors, Forest City Youth Slo-Pitch, Subway Canada, Harvey’s Restaurant and the London Police Service.
