Property Owners and Tenants Requested To Their Search Property & Surrounding Area For Missing Person

The Owen Sound Police Service continues to seek the public’s assistance in locating missing 31 year old Tavira Harford (see original media release below).

There has been no confirmed contact or sightings of Tavira since leaving the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre at approximately 1:45 pm on Sunday May 19th. (not Saturday as originally reported).

Police and family are concerned for her well-being and believe she may be in a distressed state of mind.

The Owen Sound Police Service are continuing their ground search and is requesting that all property owners or tenants in Owen Sound and surrounding area, thoroughly check their property including out buildings, parked vehicles (boats), bush lots and fields.


The Owen Sound Police are seeking the assistance of the public in locating a local woman who has not been seen since Saturday.
Detective Constable John Ford stated, “The recent actions of Tavira Harford have caused her parents and family to be concerned for her wellbeing.”

Ms. Harford is described as a white, 31 years of age, 5’11” tall, weighing 140 lbs. She has grey-blue eye, and long, wavy brown hair which she sometimes wears in a ponytail; has a slender build with a slight hunch to her back; no known tattoos.
“She was last seen at the Grey Bruce Health Services – Owen Sound site at approximately 1:45 pm [Saturday] wearing a blue shirt and jeans. We have been told she has no phone, no money or wallet, no vehicle with her, and has not contacted her parents. All of these factors also cause us [the Owen Sound Police Service] concern for her wellbeing and her whereabouts,” said Ford.

Ms. Harford is from Walkerton and has no known contacts in Owen Sound; she has been known to have a fondness for the Mississauga/Port Credit area. She is also a heavy smoker so she may have hitch-hiked out of Owen Sound, or may have been asking people on the street for a cigarette.
