Police conclude investigation into missing Kitchener man

Waterloo Region, Ontario – On Sunday August 18, 2013 just after 4:30pm, emergency services responded to a pond near Fountain Street North in Woolwich Township for a report of human remains.
The body of a male was removed from the area and transported to Hamilton where a post mortem examination was conducted.
Waterloo Regional Police are now able to confirm the identity of the deceased as Carlos Benavides, 41 years, of the city of Kitchener.
Mr. Benavides was reported missing by family who last saw him on July 25, 2013.
The post mortem revealed that Mr. Benavides’s death was consistent with the effects of drowning.
Investigators do not suspect foul play and are not considering the death to be suspicious.
The family of the deceased would appreciate privacy as they attempt to come to terms with the death of their loved one.
The police investigation into this matter is concluded.
