Rumor is council is preparing for a wide-sweeping by-law crackdown across North Huron to “put everyone back in there place”. Recently town staff have threatened the Public and Press with inspections if they didn’t keep their mouths shut regarding North Huron’s “Hometown Security Act”.
By-law department is to get bigger. In the agenda package it has been revealed that NH will be demoting Tim Lewis from Chief Building Official to building inspector and by-law enforcement. Steve Fortier is also to be appointed as a North Huron by-law officer according to the agenda package.
The Wingham Police stated they are also in charge of enforcing by-laws in Wingham.
Council used the Wingham Police to remove the Public Gallery at the last council meeting because one person didn’t have a lens cap on their camera that was turned off, and bill ss knott deemed that unacceptable and ordered the police called.
