Brampton is on a collision course with censorship and oppression. The Public and Media must stand united and nip this in the bud or they risk joining the likes of North Huron.
Intimidation won’t silence local media
Whenever a tyrant wants to take more control, the first step is to control the media. In many parts of the world the government simply sends the army in to take over media outlets. In slightly more civilized parts of the world the government will start by discrediting the media. This is done by calling them “not real news”, “cancer on the Community”, “bloggers”, “slathering dogs”, etc etc. North Huron council was doing this 5+ years before Donald Trump.
What does a corrupt regime do when the Media doesn’t learn their lesson and keeps asking questions and exposing the staggering ignorance of the regime? In North Huron they started by restricting what questions could be asked at a council meetings. The next step was to eliminate all Press and Public questions at council meetings. The penultimate step was to ban cameras and any and all recording devices at council meetings.
Now you might be thinking “penultimate step”, what else could they possibly do? How could they possibly oppress and humiliate the Press/Public any more?
The last step was to arrest members of the Public/Press gallery so they could not ask council a question after the meeting when it was “legal” to do so. NOTE: This is currently under police investigation.
North Huron has been a leader in censorship and oppression for nearly a decade. The oppression in North Huron is a cancer that must not spread across Ontario. North Huronians have lost the Right to secure our homes, the Right to question council, the Right to attend council meetings, the Right to use our sidewalks and trails, and new gun control laws are on the horizon.
