ISIS has recruited/inspired thousands of supporters in Canada since the terror attacks in France. ISIS quickly claimed responsibility for the attacks, just like when the Russian passenger jet went down. Since the attacks, tens of thousands of Canadians have become ISIS supporters by spreading hate. These ISIS supporters want to destroy Canada, simple as that. How can they destroy Canada? By getting us to turn on each other and abandon our most cherished values.
ISIS inspired hate crimes are already rippling through our Communities. Those supporting Syrian Refugees are quickly and brutally bashed on FaceBook and hate rants go viral. A woman was attacked and robbed while picking up her kids at school for being a suspected “Muslim”. Provincial leaders now question the 25,000 plan, damage has be done to countless religious buildings, swastikas in school bathrooms and cenotaphs defaced. These are mini terror attacks, designed to draw out other supporters and enrage the Community. All those that participate obviously support ISIS and their goals. If left unchecked these ISIS supporters will escalate these attacks. Hate begets violence.
It is not the Refugees we should be afraid of, it’s the thousands of racist Canadians in our midst, the unfortunate product of our failed education system and religious institutions that promote intolerance.
You can be forgiven for your instinctual xenophobic reaction immediately after the attacks, that is a normal protective response. Bomb goes off, get your family to safety and be suspicious of everything that moves or doesn’t move. If you are still xenophobic a week later, you are either paranoid or a racist.
