Hanover Begins Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan

HANOVER, ON – Hanover has initiated the development of a Master Plan that will guide future decision making of parks, recreation & culture services over the next 15 years.

prc solutions has been hired to complete the Master Plan process. Established in 2015, prc solutions is a consulting firm that aims to ‘engage, create and deliver’ in their quest to create engaging spaces and direction for community well-being. The firm has worked with many communities to complete older adult service reviews and strategies, age-friendly needs assessments, cultural action plans and parks plans.

It has been over 25 years since Hanover’s last master plan was completed. Some of the recommendations in that report resulted in the development of the Rail Lands Leisure Park area including the soccer fields, planning for trails development, lighting of second Kinsmen diamond and various policy related documents.

Mayor Paterson stated, “An assessment of our parks, recreation and culture operations is necessary to ensure we are meeting the current and future needs of our community in consideration of fiscal realities and corporate objectives focused on efficient, effective and sustainable delivery of services.”

Prc solutions began work in mid-November. The Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee is the steering committee for the Master Plan and are providing input throughout. A major component of the work is to provide an opportunity for residents, users, staff and stakeholders to provide input. Details on these opportunities will be forthcoming.

Further updates will be available via the Town website and social media. For more information on the Master Plan, please go to www.hanover.ca/parks-and-recreation-master-plan.
