Drugs & Firearm Seized

On December 4, 2013, at 11:27 a.m., members of the London Police Service executed a traffic stop after identifying the driver as a suspended driver. The subject then fled from police in his vehicle and was later arrested. Upon his arrest the driver was found to be in possession drugs and a quantity of cash.

Members of the London Police Service Guns and Drugs Section, consisting of members of London Police and the RCMP, sought and obtained a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant for the accused’s residence which resulted in further drugs and a sawed-off Cooey 12 gauge shotgun being located.

ShotgunAs a result, London resident Sean Thomson (23 years old) was charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 249(1)(a)
– Three counts of fail to comply with a recognizance, contrary to 145(3)
– Careless storage of a firearm, contrary to 86(1)
– Possession of weapon contrary to order, contrary to 117.01(1)
– Possession of firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with, contrary to 108(1)(b)
– Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, contrary to 92(1)

Thomson was also charged with the following offences:
– Three counts of possession of a controlled for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
– Drive while suspended, contrary to 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Seized:
.3g methamphetamine: $30
.5g crack cocaine: $50
40g marihuana: $400
38.5 – 0.5mg Clonazepam tablets: $38
Canadian currency: $1,808

Total drugs seized: $518.50
