UPDATE – Homicide Investigation – Victim Jeffrey ROBERTS

The Brantford Police continue to dedicate the resources necessary to investigate the murder of Jeffrey Roberts. Police have executed search warrants at three locations within the city and are continuing with the interviews of various individuals who had connections to Mr. Roberts. Numerous pieces of evidence have been collected and will be forensically examined.

Police appreciate the support they have received from the public and family of the victim.

This is a case where police are relying on both physical evidence gathered from several locations and information provided to us from members of the community.

Anyone who may know something about Mr. Roberts and his activities over the first three weeks of November is encouraged to contact police. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Raj Saini of the Major Crime Unit at 519-756-0113 ext 2265.

Type: Fraud

Incident # 16-45978

Date: December 6, 2016

Location: King George Road (200 Block)

Incident: On Tuesday, December 6, 2016 a financial institution on King George Road contacted the Brantford Police Service to report a Fraud. Through investigation it was learned that a man had attended the institution on December 2, 2016 to apply for a loan. The man provided bank account information which was later learned to be fraudulent and did not belong to him. As a result, a 31 year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with Fraud and Uttering a Forged Document. He was released on an Appearance Notice for a future court date.

Incident # 16-46027

Date: December 6, 2016

Location: Colborne Street (600 Block)

Incident: On Tuesday, December 6, 2016 a woman attended a business on Colborne Street and selected several items off of the shelves. She proceeded to remove the items from their packaging and hide them within her backpack. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and the woman was arrested. Through investigation it was also learned that the woman had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in regards to another theft.

As a result, a 35 year-old woman was charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Breach of Probation x’s 2. She was held for a bail hearing.

Date: December 6, 2016

Location: Park Avenue (0-100 Block)

Incident: On Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at approximately 10:55 p.m. a woman heard a noise in her residence and found an unknown man had broken in to her home. The man fled the home after seeing the woman. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and searched the area, however were unable to locate the man. He was described as approximately 6’2” and having a skinny build. He was wearing jeans, a black hat, and a bomber jacket. He left the area on a bicycle. At the time of the investigation, nothing was reported stolen.
