Alicia LACHANCE – Race Motor Vehicle

(SUDBURY, ON)- On November 30, 2016, members from the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrol on Regent Street, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.

The driver, Alicia LACHANCE, 21 years of age, from St-Charles, was charged with: Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle she was operating was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on January 30, 2017.

Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
