(Howick, ON) On August 16, 2009 at approximately 5:00 am a young male went to a Harriston Road residence looking for gasoline. The frantic, unidentified male stated that he had hit something with his vehicle and didn’t know what to do. The male soon came up with a plan however as he raced away in the homeowners unlocked pickup truck that had been left with the keys inside. The male sped down the laneway and across the lawn turning east onto Harriston Road. He was described as sounding 18-20 years old. The homeowner did not actually see the male.
The vehicle left at the scene by the unknown thief had heavy front end damage. It appeared the car had struck a tree. That vehicle was seized and police are attempting to contact the owner to determine if it had also been stolen.
The stolen truck is described as a grey 1997 Ford F-150. The truck has a CB antenna on the roof and a plastic bed liner. It is also described as having complete ground effects skirting. The licence plate number is 2575TL. The investigation is continuing.
