73 Year Old Buzzed Driver Caught

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday June 26, 2013, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers made two separate traffic stops in which the drivers displayed signs of alcohol consumption.

At 8:27 a.m. an officer pulled over a KIA sedan on Perth Line 86 east of Listowel. The KIA’s 73 year old male driver, a resident of the Municipality of North Perth was given a road side breath test. The test registered a blood alcohol concentration between .05 and .08. He was issued a 3 day drivers licence suspension and was charged for fail to surrender insurance card.

At 6:51 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle on Wellington Ave South in Listowel and while speaking to the driver detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The 37 year old male, a resident of the Municipality of North Perth also registered a blood alcohol concentration between .05 and .08 on a roadside screening device. The male’s driver’s licence was seized and has been suspended for 3 days. No one in the vehicle was able to drive it away, as a result his Chevrolet pickup truck was towed from the scene.
