20 Year Old Drunk Driver Charged

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Sunday December 27, 2015, shortly before 2 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a sedan on Road 140 between Sebringville and Mitchell. While speaking to the male driver, the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver was administered a road side breath test, which he failed. The driver also failed Intoxilyzer breath tests at the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville.

20-year-old Martin VANBAKEL of the Township of Perth East has been charged with the Criminal Code of Canada offence of, “driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 ml. of blood”. He was released on a Promise to Appear and has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on January 11, 2016, where he will answer to the charge. His drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days, while his motor vehicle was towed from the scene and is impounded for a period of seven days.
