18 Year Old Arrested After Machete Attack At Catholic School – One Hospitalized

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged one man following a fight that occurred at a high school in Richmond Hill.

On Friday, December 2, 2016, at shortly before 3 p.m., police were called to St. Theresa Lisieux Catholic High School, which is located in the area of Shaftsbury Avenue and Bathurst Street, for a weapons call. When officers arrived they located one youth suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation has revealed that a fight occurred in front of the school. During the altercation the suspect struck by the victim with a machete, resulting in his injuries.

On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, the suspect turned himself into police.

Bernard DEVEAUX, 18, Town of Richmond Hill

Charges:

Aggravated Assault

Uttering Threats

Carrying a Concealed Weapon

The accused has been held in custody and will be appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on December 7, 2016, for a bail hearing.
