176 Dead

(KINCARDINE, ON.) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding motorists to wear their seatbelts, obey the posted speed limits and drive sober.

176 people have died on OPP patrolled highways, including 3 in South Bruce Detachment area, so far in 2009. The main contributing factors are speeding, driving impaired and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Detachment Commander Steve Porter is concerned by this statistic:

“176 families have lost loved ones in traffic collisions this year. This is not acceptable. We need to work together to save lives. Slow down, wear your seatbelt and drive sober”.
