1,600 South Huron Taxpayers Affected By Banking Error

Effective January 1, 2017, banking services on behalf of the Municipality of South Huron was undertaken by Scotiabank as a result of a Request for Proposal.

In the past week, transactions have occurred in error resulting in early withdrawal of utility payments and tax payments from customer accounts. There were approximately 1600 customers affected.

The Municipality of South Huron has advised Scotiabank of this issue and the transactions have been reversed. In addition, any charges related to these transactions will be reimbursed.

The Municipality of South Huron in collaboration with Scotiabank will review all of the transactions for accuracy and make adjustments as required.

Scotiabank has apologized for the error and is confident that it will not occur in the future.
