140 in an 80 – Vehicle Impounded

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday July 09, 2014, around 1:40 a.m., an officer with the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Hwy 7 south west of St.Marys, when a vehicle was observed travelling at an extremely high rate of speed. The officer utilized a police radar and determined the vehicle speed to be 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The speeding Toyota Corrola was pulled over by police and the offending driver, a 22 year old female from London was charged with “race motor vehicle”. She will have to appear in Stratford court on August 12, 2014 to answer to this charge. Her driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and her car was impounded for a week.

The Perth County OPP will continue to target impaired, aggressive and suspended drivers. Citizens are urged to contact police immediately if they witness or suspect an impaired driver. The OPP can be reached anytime anywhere within the Province of Ontario at 1-888-310-1122.
