On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, police responded with ambulance to an address on Little Avenue, in the City of Barrie, for a medical assist.

A 27-year-old Barrie male was located within his home without vital signs, as a result of a suspected Fentanyl overdose. The male was revived by paramedics who administered Narcan Nasal Spray. The male was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for further medical treatment.

Police are warning recreational drug users that Fentanyl cannot be detected visually or by smell or taste, and can often be misrepresented and sold by drug dealers as other drugs. The consumption of any drug, including Fentanyl, is not one without risk.
