Cyclist Struck By Car In St Marys

(ST MARYS, ON) – On Wednesday November 30, 2016 shortly before 9:00 am Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a collision that had occurred between a cyclist and a car at the intersection of Jones Street and Water Street in St Marys.

Investigation revealed that cyclist entered the intersection and was struck by a sedan travelling north bound on Water Street. The 28-year-old male cyclist was transported with minor injuries to an area hospital. Police continue to investigate the collision.

Cyclists are reminded that they are required to obey traffic signal and signs as bicycles are classified as a vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Cyclists are encouraged to wear helmets at all times when riding their bikes. By law cyclists under the age of 18 years must wear a helmet.
