BBQ Safety

Warm weather means BBQ cooking. Follow these tips to ensure a safe BBQ season.

Before starting BBQ for first time this season check to ensure burner ports are free of rust or dirt and that burner area is free of dust and cobwebs. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions for safe maintenance and use of your BBQ.

Use a 50/50 mix of soap and water to check hoses and connections for leaks. Rising bubbles when you turn on valve indicate there is a leak. Tighten connections or repair until there are no bubbles.

Always open lid before lighting grill. Open cylinder valve, turn on BBQ controls and light using ignite button. If there is no ignite button insert flame from a long match or BBQ lighter through side burner hole. Always light match before you turn on gas at the grill controls.

Transport a propane cylinder safely by placing it in a secure, upright position with safety valve to the top. Make sure the windows of the vehicle are open.

Never use or store a propane BBQ indoors or in enclosed space, including garage or enclosed porch areas
