Barrie Police Service Member Charged with Assault

On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, a 10-year sworn member of the Barrie Police Service was charged with Domestic Assault. The off-duty incident occurred in 2016.

As a result of the recent complaint the Barrie Police Service contacted the Ontario Provincial Police to conducted an investigation into the matter.

The Barrie Police Service will not be releasing any information regarding the specifics of the allegations or the name of the officer in order to protect the identity of the victim.

“These allegations are not reflective of our membership. Our sworn and civilian members continue to deliver quality service to our community.” said Chief Kimberley Greenwood.

The officer has been suspended with pay in accordance with the Police Services Act, and will appear at a later date in court.
