(KINCARDINE, ON.) – On March 29, 2010 at 12:27 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of counterfeit money received by stores in Kincardine. The South Bruce OPP are offering merchants the following tips to help spot counterfeit money:
o Inspect raised lettering in Bank of Canada – Banque Du Canada along the left side of the bill and in the Coat of Arms at the bottom left of the bill
o Look for the amount of the bill in the dark band above the Coat of Arms
o On the $5 bill, check for concentric circles around Sir Wilfred Laurier’s eyes
o Watch for the maple leafs to change color as you tilt the bill
