14 Vehicles In Ditches In 24 Hours – Grey County

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remind motorists to adjust their driving habits to coincide with current weather and road conditions. This reminder comes after police responded to a total of 14 calls for service involving vehicles in ditches in just over 24 hours (6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21st and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22nd, 2015).

Weather changes can occur suddenly, particularly during the winter months, causing reduced visibility and drastic changes to the road conditions. Driving too fast for road conditions is the number one cause of winter collisions.

Allow yourself extra time travelling to and from destinations and slow down. Plan your trip before starting out by checking the current weather conditions and the forecast. Monitor the media outlets for any updates.

Visit the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario web site for road conditions at www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/conditions or call toll-free 1-800-268-4686. You can also call 5-1-1 (The Traveller’s Road Information Line).

For local road conditions, visit the Grey County Transportation Services web site at www.grey.ca/service/taps/winter-road-conditions or by calling 1-866-266-7569.

Keeping winter roads and highways safe is a shared responsibility by all users. When you see snow…..go slow!
