You Won’t Believe What Vodden Did This Time!

At tonight’s council meeting in Blyth, Brock Vodden made a motion for council to reconsider the name of the “Little People Memorial Park”. This motion was seconded by Ray Hallahan, and then passed by Council. Vodden then introduced a motion to name the park “Children’s Memorial Park”, this too was passed by Council.

During the Public and Press section of the meeting, several people rose up and thanked Brock Vodden for listening to the public. This was met with applause, a first at a council meeting (not counting when they give themselves “service awards”). This was the public, applauding the actions of Council!

WFP would like to thank Mr. Vodden for setting his feelings aside, and viewing the issue with objectivity. The public should be aware, this is a huge step toward accessibility and accountability for North Huron. Council changing their minds and listening to the majority, is a victory for Democracy. Hopefully Councillors will solicit public input before they make decisions in the future, but if they don’t, it is nice to know that at least once they changed their mind.
